Colorado Irish Festival

The Rocky Mountains backdrop Clement Park. Yet for one weekend each year, this public gathering spot is transformed to celebrate the culture of the Emerald Isle. For two decades now, tens of thousands of people have flocked to the Colorado Irish Festival to experience the music, dancing, art, and food of this vibrant culture, as well as browse a grand collection of Irish and Celtic goods, including jewelry, sculptures, kilt accessories, and Colorado Native, which is brewed in Colorado.

The Music

  • Gaelic Storm: Film buffs might recognize Gaelic Storm as the Titanic’s steerage band, but their fans know them better for Celtic-rock hits such as “Darcy’s Donkey” and their latest album, The Boathouse, which reached #1 on the Billboard World Album chart
  • Searson: Sisters Erin and Colleen Searson can fiddle, sing, and step-dance—and occasionally pull off all three at the same time; that energy pervades all 16 tracks of their 2012 album, Fade and Shine
  • The Elders: The six-piece Irish-American outfit behind American Wake and its standout song, “Moore St. Girls”
  • The High Kings: This multi-platinum Irish quartet has sold out shows throughout Europe and the U.S. by breathing fresh life into timeless trad classics
  • View the full musical lineup

The Craic

  • The pipes: Throughout the weekend, bagpipe and drum bands will be performing in kilts and full highland regalia
  • The games: The Denver Gaels Club gives spectators their first taste of Gaelic football, as well as hurling and its female variant, camogie
  • The dances: Step-dancers of all ages and skill levels face off with a flurry of blurry ankles
  • The pints: local brews Killian’s Irish Red

Great deal, and the festival was tons of fun!

Check out online which bands, sports, pipe bands or dancing you would be most interested in and build your visit around that. The cultural village, food, beer tents and other shopping is a fun way to fill time in between performances.
