Exploring someone else’s home offers unparalleled insight into personal lives matched only by filming family dinners or holding a staged reading of your sister's diary. Receive an invitation to intrude with today's Groupon: for $20, you get two tickets to the Columbus Museum of Art Decorators' Show House through Sunday, May 22 (a $40 value). This year's house is located at 4125 Oxford Drive in Upper Arlington. Children younger than 8 and attendees with bulky shoulder bags or backpacks will not be admitted, and entry cuts off 30 minutes before closing time.
Hosted by the Columbus Museum of Art's Women's Board, the biennial Decorators' Show House showcases decorous designs from some of the region's premier interior and landscape designers. Originally constructed in 1928, the spacious Spanish-revival-style house sits on a large corner lot overlooking the Scioto River and emits feng shui-ed flashes of inspiration with 22 design spaces, 19 interior and 3 exterior, as well as four landscaped areas, including the world's first sentient, self-skimming lap pool. Attendees can purchase light snacks and lunch fare at the café or raffle tickets for a chance to win prizes, such as a case of wine or a cooking class at Williams-Sonoma, with all proceeds from the event going to the Columbus Museum of Art. From 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday nights, visitors can meet designers in person and ask them questions about their work, such as who inspires them and how to trap excess chandelier light in decorative mason jars.
