What You'll Get
The Issue: Food Insecurity in Orange County
In 2010, more than 33% of adults in Orange County experienced food insecurity, according to data from California Food Policy Advocates. This means that 211,000 people had insufficient food on a regular basis and lacked the resources to maintain a nutritious diet. To supplement their diet, many of these people regularly turn to food banks. After the holidays, however, food-bank reserves become low while demand remains constant.
The Campaign: Distributing Food to Underserved People
If 30 people donate $15 to this Grassroots campaign, then Orange County Food Bank can provide five days' worth of nutritious food for 30 underserved individuals. Each person will receive one bag of food, which includes items such as milk, cold cereal, fruit or canned vegetables, pasta, beef, and soup. Each additional $15 raised will provide five day's worth of food for another underserved individual.
