More Questions and Answers

Q:

If you have outside certification (I'm US Sailing bareboat cruising certified) or extensive experience with small boats, is there a fast-track class that gets a sailor out on the water faster? Also - looked over the class schedule, and didn't see windsurfers included with this. Just wanted to check if that was an option, or only for full-year memberships. Thanks! Dan

Daniel G.  asked on  Mar 27, 2013

A:

This deal is aimed at those learning to sail, it seems like you would be best suited for our regular full-year membership that will allow you to fast-track to your helmsman and sonar ratings. In addition, windsurfing is only offered for Full-year and 60 day members.

Q:

Do you allow off-site kayak rentals for a fee, or are there also double kayaks that we can bring guests on for free? Also want to make sure that I'm understanding if you sign up for a membership, it's $109 and good until next June?

Kristen L.  asked on  Mar 23, 2013

A:

Kayaks are included with your membership but may not leave the basin. You may bring a guest in a double kayak. $109 is for the two person membership and its good for 30 consecutive days from when you begin it.

Adam S.  from  Self  replied on  Mar 23, 2013

A:

Ahh, I misread that as $49 additional for the membership, not a discount making it $269 total for the year. So I can't bring a former member to sail with, but I can bring someone to kayak with? Just want to be clear, thanks!

Kristen L.  from  Self  replied on  Mar 24, 2013

A:

You can bring a friend with you when you share a double kayak.

Q:

Hi this offer expires May 17, 2013 means I must activate the membership before that day and it is only valid for one month since the date of activation, right? Is it possible if I could activate it now but come to classes later in June? Thanks

Zewen L.  asked on  Mar 26, 2013

Adam S.  from  Self  replied on  Mar 26, 2013

Q:

If you buy for 2 people, can you activate the 30 day period on different dates?

John E.  asked on  Mar 24, 2013

A:

If you purchase the $110 option for 2 people, the 30-day membership would need to be activated for the same dates for both people. If each person wanted to activate their membership at different times, you'd need to purchase 2 individual memberships at $60 each.

Rigging (1 -1 1/2 hours) Rigging provides a complete overview of the Cape Cod Mercury, and includes rigging, unrigging, furling and storing sails, and a review of the knots. This class will walk you through the procedures in a step-by-step method so that you can go sailing. If you are new to the Mercury or sailing, don't miss this class. Shore School (1 3/4 hours) The Shore School classroom presentation is the best introduction for understanding sailing. Q:

When does the 30 day membership begin? Can I choose the date?

Caitlin M.  asked on  Mar 22, 2013

A:

You will have to redeem your membership before May 17th. If you redeem after that it is good for the cash ($60) value towards another membership.

Charlie Z.  from  Merchant  replied on  Mar 22, 2013

A:

You can begin on any date once we open March 30th until May 17th.

Q:

Hi, I have bought a season pass in the past and would be a renewing member. Is there any way to use this deal to get a discount off renewal of the full season pass? It seems like it should apply since you offer a discount to upgrade from the 30-day pass to the full-year, but since it's not specifically addressed I thought I should ask you. Thanks.

Andrew S.  asked on  Mar 22, 2013

A:

The Cost to Upgrade to a Full Year if you wanted to extend your membership is $210 at the conclusion of the 30 day trial. So it would still cost $269, which is the full year membership cost. But as a renewing member you would only pay $249, which is the better deal. In addition, you can't hold Helmsman and above ratings, so if you had those they would expire with a 30 day membership.
