A Chat with The Connecticut Audubon Society
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
The Connecticut Audubon Society provides high-quality natural experiences across the state. Working exclusively in Connecticut for over 100 years, Connecticut Audubon is an independent organization, not affiliated with any national or governmental group.
What is the experience customers can expect?
Members are invited to take advantage of our beautiful Nature Centers and sanctuaries. Our Nature Centers host a variety of quality programs, (for which members get a discount!) including bird walks, kids programs, birthday parties, music and art events, and hiking and canoe trips.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
The Connecticut Audubon Society was founded in 1898 by Mabel Osgood Wright, a pioneer in the American conservation movement. We've been continuing Mabel's work ever since, managing 2,600 acres of bird habitat, educating 200,000 children and adults annually, and bringing bird lovers together.
What do you love most about your job?
My favorite part of my job is meeting our members at events around the state. Whether testing members' avian smarts at Bird Nerd Trivia Night or enjoying a bird walk along Long Island Sound, I'll always meet someone with a passion for Connecticut's environment and the drive to make a difference.
