With their viciously cute pincers and adorably beady eyes, crabs have been long maligned as aquatic villains, while shrimp swim free, powered by metabolisms fueled by pure evil. Dive into the water's heart of darkness with today's Groupon: for $10, you get $20 worth of deliciously fresh seafood, fish, or made-to-order food at Conrad's Crabs and Seafood Market in Parkville. This Groupon is valid for in-store purchases only and is not valid for alcohol.
Conrad's Crabs puts the locally caught moneycrabs where its customers' ravenous mouths are as they live up to their "We catch our own" slogan. Waterman Tony Conrad brings in as much seafood as Poseidon allows, from crabs to fresh whole fish (both market price). A fusion of a seafood market and a carryout restaurant, Conrad's has a full menu of locavores' delights. Seafood can be purchased raw or steamed to order, with the fresh-caught fish and crustaceans going for market price daily. Long-standing selections include Conrad's Steamer Combo (six each of jumbo shrimp, oysters, and clams with a pound of mussels, $22.50) and entrees such as fried hard crab ($13.50), six fried oysters ($13.50), and a pint of Maryland crab soup ($5).
Call 20 minutes in advance to make sure your crab orders are ready for carryout, or make eyes at the black-and-white tiled counter as you wait. While you're there, make sure you ask what the daily recommendations are—there's a good chance you'll be asking the guy who caught them.
- We think it's great that Tony Conrad, co-owner with his wife Andrea, is a real waterman, who catches a lot of the market's fish. Conrad showcases fish from other parts of the country, too—all beautifully presented on ice. – Baltimore Magazine
- Are you at one of Baltimore's finest seafood restaurants? You could be. But you could also be at Parkville's newest seafood place, Conrad's Crabs & Seafood Market. Obviously, not your usual seafood market. – Baltimore Sun
- I was very impressed and will be returning… – Jessica L., Yelp
