What You'll Get
Because art is a difficult thing to price, art farmers bring freshly harvested art to museums rather than grove-side stands. Today's Groupon readies newborn art for the harvest: for $25, you get $50 toward any studio school art class at the Contemporary Art Center of Virginia in Virginia Beach.
The CACV is a non-profit art institute where creative acts of painting, photography, sculpture, and more assemble for the contemplation of its patrons. Adult classes run the paint-splattered gamut of artistic pursuits from the eight-week Drawing Basics I ($140 for non-members), wherein charcoal novices explore composition and perspective, to the six-week Media Blend ($110 for non-members), a mixed-media class that fosters print, stamp, and stencil innovation. Two-day Art Appreciation workshops ($40 for non-members) infuse falsified dinner party banter with grains of truth as aspiring art history buffs learn contemporary art techniques like neo-pop, graffiti art, and hummus sculptures. With kid-specific classes for tykes as young as two and as angsty as seventeen, the CACV provides ample opportunity for burgeoning artistes of all ages to try their hand at a plethora of creative endeavors. Check the CACV studio website for a full listing of available classes (unless specified, non-member prices are $15 more than member prices).
Held in the CACV’s modern and expansive studio space, classes are taught by professional regional artists who bring experience and enthusiasm to each illuminating session. With classes sprinkled throughout the week, these studio offerings can accommodate hectic work schedules, nocturnal proclivities, and those that play racquetball with Picasso's ghost from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

- Every free chance I get to drop in is well worth it. Not only do they have new pieces or exhibits on display, but art is something that changes with you. – Molly B., Yelp
