Eating while riding horseback was pioneered by the efficient Mongols, who also adjusted to reading, receiving haircuts, and filling out their taxes atop their four-legged mobiles. Enjoy the convenience of chairs and tables with today’s Groupon: for $7, you get $15 worth of home-style cuisine at Cope's Knotty Pine Cafe, located on Norris Road.

Cope's Knotty Pine Cafe serves home-style breakfast and lunch creations in a friendly dining atmosphere. The family treatment at the café results in every plate arriving tableside being accompanied by a smiling face, unlike many at-home family-meal treatments, which involve screams of terror over bread bags not secured by twist-ties. The menu features selections chock-full of personality, such as Doyle's Dynamic DBL Burger ($8.25), which has twice the burger-based dynamism as a standard bun and patty. The Fireman's Fearless Frito Boat ($5.25) sails through smoke and fire on a corn-chip ladder, while mouths dance with Roger's Raving Tuna Melt ($6.75) and easily find aquatic commonalities with Heather's Friendly Halibut Sandwich ($7.75). Main dishes are cheered on by sideline all-stars including cheese-stuffed jalapeños ($3.75), fried green beans ($3.75), and corn fritters ($3.75). Cope's Knotty Pine Cafe is open for eating from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. all seven of the eight days of the week.

I had the chicken fried chicken smothered with gravy, eggs, hash browns, and a large biscuit covered with gravy. Ok, I’m a gravy girl. It was all delicious, served hot & fresh by friendly staff. The portions were large! I took home more than half the order and enjoyed it the following day. My friend had the ham steak and eggs & she also took home a good portion for later. Her ham looked delicious and she loved it. I might try that next time.

One thing I can say is they have not changed since COVID. The food is still great, and you get a bang for your buck.
