The perfect food and wine pairing is like the fateful meeting of destined lovers, best celebrated with a tiny mock wedding presided over by a curmudgeonly pepper mill with a heart of gold. Combine cuisine and wine the way nature intended with today's deal: $15 for $35 worth of small plates and wine at Cork! A Wine Bar. This Groupon is not valid during Cork's happy hour.
The welcoming vinoteque serves a carefully curated selection of pours by the glass or bottle. From a cheery, floral-scented Riesling to a rich and spicy Shiraz, Cork's wine selections span the globe. For commitment-phobic consumers, the flights provide a trifecta of tastes. Choose three selections from the business ($10) or first-class ($12) menus. Modest beer ($3.50 each) and soda collections ($3 each) are also available.
Supplement sips with dishes from the restaurant's small-plates menu. The cheese plate, garnished with toasted artisan bread, fig spread, marcona almonds, and dried fruit, includes your choice of three ($10) or five ($14) cheeses. The balsamic reduction–drizzled caprese salad ($6) services cravings for freshness. Flatbreads ($8 each), a meat and cheese plate ($12), antipasti ($11), bruschetta ($7), and desserts ($5 each) round the menu into a well-rounded sphere that would be easy to push up a mountain to build an oenophile snowman.
Live music on Saturday nights, Thursday wine tastings, and a cozy ambience make Cork's social-libation station stand out from the pack. The New Tribune praises its spaciousness and candlelit tables. Reservations are recommended on the weekends.
- Cavernous wine bar with candle-lit cafe tables. During our Saturday evening dining visit, Cork! started out nearly empty and, by about 9:30 p.m., was comfortably occupied...The $8 “signature flatbread” – with goat cheese, kalamata olives, roasted red peppers, pine nuts, artichoke hearts and pesto – was a good call... Cork! bills itself as an unpretentious wine bar, and we saw nothing to dispute that. – Niki Sullivan, New Tribune
- Delightful appetizers and wonderful wine. – Elizabeth H., Yelp
- The cheese plate is to die for. Portions are more than generous with bread, crackers, and a plethora of dried fruits and nuts. – W F., Yelp
- This place is fun, well priced, great selection...and the staff was awesome!...The food and wine was perfectly paired and the wine flights are unique and had some of the best wine selections around. If your [sic] hungry try the Cork! Signature flatbread or one of the cheese plates. – idrummer67, Google Maps
Cork! A Wine Bar
Beneath the exposed beams of a vaulted ceiling, rows of dark tables serve as a platform for Cork! A Wine Bar’s spectrum of reds and whites. Sourced primarily from the Northwest, these vinous sips pair with a menu of warm flatbreads, rich cheeses, and pots of fondue that melt and bubble like a herd of Peeps lost in the desert. Patrons can sidle up to the bar for a pour of shiraz or a sudsy beer before kicking back in one of Cork's two lounge areas where espresso-hued leather chairs huddle together around low-lit lamps and small tables.
