We got there about an hour early and checked to see if any reservations were still open. We saw there was an opening and asked Sue if she could take us earlier than expected. She quickly set up the horses with the sleigh. We had a private sleigh ride for 2. The ride was just magical. It had snowed earlier during the week so all the trees were covered. Sue shared many interesting facts about the horses, the ranch, and just overall fun facts. We had a blast. We were able to touch the horses afterwards and enjoyed some s'mores in the nearby fire. The whole experience was beyond anything I could've imagined. So romantic. We are looking forward to seeing what the ranch has to offer in the summer and seeing Angus (aka 'Bad Dog') again. Definitely recommend this.

We were lucky to have snow and had a sleigh ride. But the snow was so thin that it was very bumpy and a very short sleigh ride. We did not even have time to take a picture with horse and kids in sleigh which kind of was a little sad. Also it was very cold and no house to warm up. So the hot chocolate, s’mores and toilet are outside. Even the volunteers could not warm up and had to stay for whole time in cold. The small campfire was not enough to get warm. Most people left without hot chocolate and s’mores. So I recommend to come in long underwear, snow pants and snow boots during winter and snow season.

What You'll Get

For $35, you get an approximately two-hour guided trail ride at Cornerstone Ranch (a $70 value). Cornerstone Ranch is located about 60 miles from Boston in Princeton, MA.

Cornerstone Ranch is situated on 24 acres of woods and meadows in central Massachusetts. Savor the colors and smells of a New England autumn astride a steed with the two-hour guided trail ride, which is led by Sue Connell, the farm's owner. Sue draws on more than 20 years of riding experience as she instructs you on the basics of mounting your safe, tranquil horse and riding it through Cornerstone's winding trails. No need to dust off old chaps or practice your gallop, because Cornerstone Ranch has a horse fit for any size or experience level of rider. Call ahead at least 48 hours in advance for a reservation. Cornerstone Ranch typically limits their trail rides to two to three children—if there are more children, they will either split up the ride or structure the ride like a birthday party.

Four Facebookers give Cornerstone Ranch an average of five stars, and previous customers spoke highly of their experiences:

  • Cornerstone Ranch is #1! With calm, safe horses and great instruction, it would be hard to find a better place to ride. The Connells are good people. – Gary Shamel, Facebook
  • ...seated astride a calm horse while Sue Connell, the owner of Cornerstone and the instructor explained important points of riding and some stretching exercises before leading the group off on a trail through the woods, along country roads, a power line, and through a christmas tree farm before returning to her barn ... I enjoyed pushing aside the stress of daily life and enjoying the moment while recalling some happy memories of time in the saddle. Before the ride was over, I knew I wanted more. I'll be back. – Gary
  • Thank you so much for the wonderful trail ride yesterday. We had such a great time, and learned so much. You are a wonderful instructor and lots of fun too! We hope to come back and see you real soon! – Lisa & Fred
