What You'll Get
Refining Your Nose
It can be incredibly instructive to smell a wide selection of anyone plant material and learn to discern the subtle differences. There are many species of the rangy and gnarly tree frankincense, and it grows in many countries, yielding a wide variety of subtle (and not so subtle) differences. I’ve collected frankincense from Somalia, Ethiopia, India, Kenya and Oman in several species.
Frankincense is but one of the many resins available for the natural perfumer to use. We’ll also be working with myrrh, opoponax, styrax, benzoin, copal and mastic. Other precious woods, spices and exotic flowers will be on hand to create two perfumes.
Perfumes Using Frankincense
Marianne Butler aka Sprizi Maguilicuty will be curating a collection of vintage, niche and otherworldly perfumes to class to sample and discuss.
- It's best not to wear perfume to class so that you (and the other students) can smell what you're working on.
- Class starts at 1 pm, please try to be prompt so that you're not rushing to finish your perfumes at the end. The MTA does regular track work on the weekends which can cause travel delays. Please check http://web.mta.info/service/ to see if there are service disruptions and plan your trip accordingly.
The class identified is made available through CourseHorse, a 3rd party marketplace for Unique classes and more. Groupon is not affiliated with or sponsored by the merchant, Alchemologie Natural Perfume, in connection with this offer.
