In this 5 session soldering intensive you will fully develop your understanding of how solder behaves, how to control heating, and how to troubleshoot problems before they arise. Creating various sized soldering samples will allow you to gain confidence in this important fabrication skill. Working larger will help you understand what is happening with your heat so that you can finesse smaller pieces. Two projects and multiple samples will acquaint you with a variety of different approaches to soldering.
Open to all levels.

Q: Can I make up a class if I miss one?
A: Yes. Students who are absent for class are allowed to make up missed class time during open studio hours at no cost. This is an unsupervised working time. Teachers are not required to meet with students outside of class to make up missed information. Students may make up missed hours up to 2 weeks after their class ends. One missed class equals 3 hours.

· Cross-locking tweezers, bent nose
· Solder pick
· 2/0 saw blades, 1 dozen
· 1/4 in paint brush for flux
· 6 in metal ruler
· Split mandrel, not tapered
· Sandpaper, grits 220, 320, 400, 600
· Soldering brick
· Sheet solder - Hard, Medium, and Easy, 6 in each
· Copper sheet - 20 gauge, 6 x 6 in.
· Sterling silver sheet - 18 gauge, ¾ x 3 in
· Brass wire - 22 gauge, 1 ft
Optional (not in kit)

Q: Is there anything else I should be aware of to be prepared for class?
A: Yes. The school requires closed-toe shoes and appropriate work clothing made from natural fibers. Long hair must be tied back when working in the studio. They provide safety glasses but you are encouraged to bring your own if you have them.
