Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage a first aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) arrives. Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies. This course also teaches adult CPR and AED use.

Required Materials: 2010 Edition Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED Student Workbook offered at registration.

Intended Audience: This class is designed for individuals who need a CPR card AND a First Aid card for either personal reasons or for work purposes . This class is perfect for the lay person, parents, babysitters, the fitness instructor, the educator, the childcare professional, coaches, camp counselors, etc. This class is not for the healthcare provider or any medical/nursing student (please see BLS Class for Healthcare Providers).This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in first aid, CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory or other requirements.
 
Course Completion Certification Card: During the course, an AHA Instructor conducts video-based lessons and works with students to complete their first aid, CPR and AED skills practice and testing.

Upon completion of this course, students receive an American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course Completion Card that is valid for two years. Cards will be processed electronically as e-cards. Students can expect to receive an email and email within 7-10 business days from ecards@heart.org or noreply@heart.org with a link to claim their e-card.
