According t the National Survey on Drug Use and Heath, the construction industry has the highest of workplace drug use. Substance abuse is a factor in 35 percent injuries and fatalities, 35 percent of all substances, 38 percent to 50 percent of all worker's compensation claims, and 40 percent of thefts. Substance abuse is increasing those risks which affect overall job safety and work efficiency. Substance abuse includes, but not limited to the use of marijuana, heroine, ecstasy, methamphetamine, cocaine, opiates, amphetamine and high amounts of alcohol.
The program's goal is to address substance and alcohol abuse and particularly focuses on educating workers on safety and productivity hazards created by the abuse of alcohol and other drugs in the workplace.
This training may be delivered as a stand alone seminar or offered through an integrated approach with other industry appropriate subject matter.
Required curriculum for any worker of Supervisor employed in NYC within the five Boroughs on projects requiring Construction Super, Site Safety Manager, Site Safety Coordinator, Concrete Safety Manager, or Competent Person.
Also, applicable individuals seeking a more comprehensive understanding of their responsibilities for initiating and carrying out a drug-free workplace policies and procedures in the workplace or on the job site.
