Though bass fishing may seem glamorous, instruments caught fresh from the sea may cause electric shock and are usually way out of tune. Rock out the safe way with today’s deal for youth summer music camps at Creative Soul School of Modern Music in Watauga. Choose between the following options:
- For $99, you get admission to a four-day, two-hour youth Mini Camp (up to a $199 value).
- For $199, you get admission to a five-day, full-day youth Rock Camp (up to a $399 value).
Creative Soul School of Modern Music’s summer day camps give kids ages 7–17 the chance to learn an instrument, brush up on skills, and play in a fun, expert-instructor-led environment. Beginner and intermediate students looking for a rock experience without the pressure and paparazzi attention of performing can sign up for Mini Camp. Over the course of four days, budding strummers and drummers take two-hour daily classes designed to teach instrument fundamentals and the art of the jam.
At the start of the five-day Rock Camp, kids choose an instrument such as guitar, bass, drums, voice, keyboards, bicycle chain, or horn before being placed in a band with other students based on instrument and experience level. Group classes school students in the art of playing as well as band promotion. Attendees also rehearse a cover song and create an original song with their bandmates, as the week culminates in a public performance for family, friends, and fellow campers. The lighthearted but concentrated environment gives Top 40 hopefuls the equivalent of three months of private lessons in five-days’ time, as well as insights into songwriting craft, the challenges of the music industry, and the pros and cons of amp smashing.
Rock Camp sessions will take place June 13–17 and July 11–15, and Creative Soul offers eight Mini Camp sessions during June, July, and August. Contact the school to schedule summer adventures.
