A:

Hi there, The intro classes can be taken on the Saturday as well. It's just the rentals that can not! Thanks!

Q:

Hi, since reservations start on April 15th and I am back in Vancouver on the 19th, I am just concerned with over 1,000 vouchers bought that it would be very long before I could book and use it. I would like to buy for 2 single kayaks but I go away on the summer so I am not sure if I would be able to use it before that time since it might all be booked. Are there any time estimates or recommendations? thank you

Norma M.  asked on  Mar 12, 2013

A:

Hi Yuri, We have a lot of kayaks for rent and can accommodate 2000 kayak hours per month so it will not be a problem. Thanks!

Q:

Hi, Just to follow up on the certification question for the intro course - would we receive the Paddle Canada Introduction to Kayaking certification? Or is it simply a certificate of completion type thing? (I'm interested in taking further Paddle Canada courses, and have a fair bit of simple kayaking experience and am wondering whether the course is worth it). Thanks!

Natasha P.  asked on  Mar 11, 2013

A:

Hi Natasha, This introcourse is for true beginners. We do have a kayak course that is Introduction to kayaking 2 that offers huli drills and advanced paddling techniques. That may be the course you want to take. Thanks!

Q:

If I purchase the 2 hr single kayak voucher, do you allow solo kayakers to go out on their own?

Sara Y.  asked on  Mar 11, 2013

A:

Hi Sara, Indeed we do. Kayakers just need to stay out of open waters and can not go out past the Burrard St bridge.

Q:

How do you get to False Creek from the Mount Pleasant booking, rental place with the kayak? I am assuming someone takes you in a vehicle, and brings you back to mount pleasant area, no? Nadine

Nadine N.  asked on  Mar 11, 2013

A:

Hi Nadine, The community centre is located in Mount Pleasant at # 1 Athletes Way but it is right on the water! It's a three minute walk from the centre to the dock!

Q:

Will there be any guards or safety personnel on the water for the two-hour single kayak rental?

kristina m.  asked on  Mar 11, 2013

A:

Hi Kristina, All of the kayaks have safety equipment in them. We do have a safety boat available for emergencies but it is not on the water. If you are concerned about rescue and safety I would take the Introduction to Kayaking course for peace of mind. Thanks!
