What You'll Get
For centuries, pizza and pasta battled for the title of Italy’s most beloved dish, an honor that was ultimately bestowed upon Sophia Loren. Cast your vote for the Boot’s best culinary creation with today’s Groupon: for $10, you get $20 worth of pizzeria fare at Cronies Pizzeria in Fridley.
Chefs load the ovens at Cronies Pizzeria with bubbling pizzas built from fresh ingredients, layered atop crusts and sauces made according to a secret recipe locked in the minds of owners Chris and Jay Downs. Guests can find their edible match in one of the 12 specialty pies, ranging from the ham-and-pineapple-topped Luciano to the grilled-chicken-and-alfredo-enhanced Lansky, named after mob accountant Meyer Lansky's tradition of cooking books with a light white sauce ($5.49–$16.49). Flavor scientists can experiment with custom pizzas ($10–$12) adorned with up to 14 available toppings ($1.25 each), and the personal pizza from the kids’ menu fills tiny tummies and prevents children from eating their homework ($4.99). Sate three-dimensional cravings with non-planar items that flesh out the menu, such as warm lamb and beef gyros ($6.99) or baked penne with mozzarella ($5.99 for a half order; $8.49 for a full order).
