The menu of possible workouts at CrossFit 508 is remarkably extensive. Trainers, on any given day, combine kettlebell swinging with gymnastics floorwork, Olympic weightlifting, and rowing, to say nothing of the push-ups, pull-ups, and running peppered throughout. Whatever kind of challenge they present to students, though, the trainers espouse "mastery before intensity." They keep students safe and healthy by insisting on proper form, even if it means waiting longer to add weight or reps to a workout or making sure everyone's sneakers are securely tied before moving on to the next exercise.
