What You'll Get
Though feeling the burn during a workout is generally a good sign, feeling the burn while sitting on the sofa means your sofa is in the fireplace. Engage in controlled, constructive body burning with today's Groupon: for $39, you get one month of unlimited classes, including one introductory Elements class, at CrossFit 806, located on Canyon Drive (a $170 value).
CrossFit 806 employs the sweat-inducing services of three certified CrossFit trainers, who use CrossFit’s principle of universal scalability to chisel the cores and amp up the endurance of elite athletes and fitness beginners alike. CrossFit newbies will start with an Elements class, in which they'll be introduced to basic CrossFit techniques in order to avoid injury and rookie mistakes such as ingesting a barbell. Following the initial session, participants will be able to begin re-physiquing their frames with unlimited CrossFit classes, which are held three times a day Monday–Friday.
Each class begins with an all-encompassing warm-up to prepare muscles for their foray into fitness. After a five-minute clinic to review proper movements, a trainer pilots participants through a workout of the day, focusing on 1 or more of 10 areas of fitness, which range from strength to agility to coordination. The workouts vary from day to day to prevent muscles from getting bored and yawning at inappropriate times, but each one includes weight lifting, metabolic conditioning, and gymnastics. A stretching session concludes each class to ensure newly statuesque forms stay more limber than their marble counterparts.
