A Chat with Crossfit Cedar Ridge
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
CrossFit Cedar Ridge’s motto is “stronger than yesterday,” and judging by the gym’s growth since 2011, it follows through on the promise. Once a modest barn of 1,200 square feet, [the gym has grown to] to a 7,000-square-foot box full of top-of-the-line Rogue equipment and athletes committed to achieving their fitness goals.
Exercise is challenging. How do you keep clients motivated and engaged?
In CrossFit gyms, you get to know the other members and build a strong relationship with them. CrossFit gyms are more than a gym, but rather a community of hard-working people. A combination of fast results as well as friends that hold you accountable does the job to keep you motivated.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
Watching the change CrossFit has made in the people around us is total inspiration. There just simply is no better way to train athletes or everyday people for real life. I wanted everyone I knew to get involved in something that I know makes people better!
What do you love most about your job?
Everybody with a pulse can do CrossFit. While every member will be doing the same workout, the coaches help scale the workout to every individual’s fitness level. CrossFit aims to train people to be functional in the real world. Athletes work right alongside grandmas. What other program can say that\?
Crossfit Cedar Ridge
As a high-school-athletics coach that engaged in a wide variety of workout systems, Crossfit Cedar Ridge owner Doug Meacham found the CrossFit method was a natural fit. Instead of engaging in numerous exercise routines to meet optimal results, he could obtain the same results with the ever-changing and intense daily workouts of CrossFit. It’s a system that uses functional movements, training the body to be ready for all physical activities—from the athletic to the quotidian. He and his team of trainers teach the system in a group setting that fosters camaraderie as well as a sense of commitment to each other and their goals.
