What You'll Get
Muscle weighs more than fat, making retired bodybuilders nature's best paperweights. Get buff and avoid scattered utility bills with today's Groupon: for $29, you get three semi-private Elements sessions at CrossFit Conejo Valley in Westlake Village (a $150 value).
CrossFit Conejo Valley’s seasoned coaches lead intense strength and conditioning workouts that incorporate elements of weightlifting and gymnastics to push students to the limits of their endurance. Instead of discussing the molecular weight of plutonium, Elements classes impart fundamental exercises that are necessary to continue in the CrossFit program, which include variations on squats, push-ups, and rowing. The coach assesses each participant’s strengths and weaknesses to tailor workouts to the group’s needs and goals. To add variety and help subtract calories, the teacher peppers each workout with cardio exercises such as rope jumping and warp speed chicken dancing. Camaraderie develops as students encourage each other to lift kettle bells and medicine balls, gradually making greater fitness gains. Like a trip to the airport in a clown car, each Elements session lasts up to 45 minutes and accommodates approximately 10 people. Consult the schedule for dates and times.
In addition to helming four to six daily workouts at the CrossFit studio, the coaches share the workout of the day online, encouraging exercisers to sweat profusely at home as well as in the gym. After completing three Elements sessions, students can enroll in more advanced classes or attempt to bench-press the moon.
