Live theater tends to be more thrilling than film, largely due to the heightened odds of seeing someone flub a line or deliver a stirring monologue while sitting in your lap. Witness truly dramatic close-ups with this Groupon.

The historic Crown Uptown Theatre hosts Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street, Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s macabre musical that tells the tale of the titular haircutter and his unsettling partnership with the pie maker Mrs. Lovett. When the corrupt judicial system of 19th-century London leads to the death of Sweeney Todd’s wife, he swears revenge upon the entire world. He begins murdering officials and handing them over to Lovett, allowing her to make pies with a most dastardly ingredient that leads to unexpected success for the duo and even grimmer events ahead. The musical first opened on Broadway in March 1979 and proceeded to win the Tony Award for Best Musical. Before the curtains open, guests sit down at tables arrayed throughout the stately auditorium to dig into dishes from the seasonal menu. A mixed-greens salad and butternut-squash bisque ready tongues for entrees of twistedly appropriate meat pies, pecan-encrusted tilapia, or chicken and dumplings. All entrees come with a side of roasted red potatoes and a seasonal-vegetable medley. Meals conclude with a dessert of cheesecake, dark-chocolate layer cake, spiced apple cobbler, bread pudding, or sugar-free strawberry cheesecake.<p>

Wow! As we came in live music was playing and the space was really pretty..I had no idea. Our server was really fun (thanks James!) the food was really so much better that I was expecting. The pumpkin soup was especially great. The show was really, really good. I was quite impressed and will be back. Everyone should go!!!

The play was amazing! The service was incredible! My only complaint would be the dinner portions were very small. I would have a hard time paying full price for it, knowing that the portions are so tiny. However, the play was worth every penny!! Loved it and can't wait to go again!
