Did not care for show topic and music, but I did like the costumes and staging. The quality of the performances was good. The food was very good. The normal price of the ticket is overpriced for this market. Management needs to reduce the price to increase the number of patrons.

A friend gave me Groupon-purchased tickets to Next to Normal's last performance--great food, amazing performance!! Last week, when a Groupon for Sweeney Todd came up, I grabbed it so I could take my husband. We had a lot of fun! Again, great food and great performance! The performances seem to be out of the "big city" instead of a small city like Wichita :) The only thing I haven't cared for is the salad dressing, which was too sweet for my taste both times...but that's such a small complaint compared to the great times we've had!

Crown Uptown Theatre's production of Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street combines the 1973 play by Christopher Bond with the lyrics of Stephen Sondheim and libretto prowess of Hugh Wheeler. The story follows the dark and twisted tale of the vengeful 19th century barber, Benjamin Barker (a.k.a. Sweeney Todd), as he pairs up with pie maker Mrs. Lovett and slices and dices his way to the top of London's barber pole.

Before the show, theatergoers can dine on a lunch (served from 11 a.m. to noon) or dinner (served from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.) of a mixed-greens salad with pear vinaigrette and pecans, butternut-squash bisque, and a choice of meat pies, pecan-crusted tilapia, or chicken and dumplings. Entrees come with roasted red potatoes and seasonal veggies and are followed by a choice of New York–style cheesecake, sugar-free strawberry pie, dark-chocolate layer cake, spiced apple cobbler, or bread pudding made from pumpkin bread.
