Q:

Does the cave have interesting forms and/or unusual shapes for a photographing experience?

Denice S.  asked on  Nov 17, 2012

A:

Hey Denice!
According to the business' website, "CCU, a former sand mine, is located in Crystal City, Missouri and fronts Plattin Creek, within a mile of it's intersection with the Mississippi River. It is 6,000,000 million square feet of enclosed underground climate-controlled space. Approximately 200 acres. It has 30-40 ft. ceilings. The facility was originally created as a by-product of a sand mining operation. Consequently, thick pillars were systematically cut out of the rock, forming a asymmetrical grid."

Q:

How long is the ride?

Lori S.  asked on  Nov 16, 2012

A:

Hi Lori, the rides are 30 minutes long, but you can feel free to spend as much time as you would like walking around the cave after or before. They have live music, sand volleyball, disc golf, and food and beverage.

Q:

How long is this 'barge' ride? Is this an actual 'barge', or some kind of deck boat? There is no real description/pics on their website. I'm not paying $20 to sit in a leaky jon boat for 10 minutes!

Mike B.  asked on  Nov 16, 2012

A:

Hi Mike, The barge ride is 30 minutes long and is on a steel barge purchased from the Army Core of Engineers. Crystal City added safety features and lights. It fits up to 50 passengers at a time. Thanks!

Q:

How long is the barge ride? What can we expect to see?

Maria E.  asked on  Nov 16, 2012

A:

Hi Maria, the barge ride lasts 30 minutes and it winds through that cave. The barge is lit up but the cave is dark so the lights play off the water and reflect onto the cave walls. They also allow you to walk around and explore the cave, there is live music, sand volleyball, disc golf, and food and drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) for purchase. Thank you!
