Forensic science revolutionized modern law enforcement and quickly replaced previous investigative methods such as poking the body with a stick and consulting the shade of Agamemnon. Discover the fun of fingerprints and DNA with today's Groupon to CSI: The Experience at the MGM Grand (up to a $60 value).
Developed in cooperation with the National Science Foundation, CSI: The Experience engages minds with a 60- to 90-minute interactive exhibition designed to stimulate scientific synapses. Make-believe Marples and Poirots can test their deductive mettle as they solve one of three murder scenarios. Moving from crime scene to lab with the help of exclusive footage from the cast of CSI, would-be sleuths try their rubber-gloved hands at real world forensic crime-solving techniques, examining everything from blood spatter patterns and DNA samples to the mating habits of bullet casings at the exhibit's lab stations. Under the watchful tutelage of CSI impresario Gil Grissom, participants will pinpoint the culprit and earn an official CSI Diploma (via email), leaving streets safe for law-abiding citizens and high school dweebs who don't notice the "Murder Me" sign taped to their back.
Vegas.com and About.com recommend CSI: The Experience at the MGM Grand to Vegas tourists. Though some reviewers were disappointed in the attraction, TripAdvisors give CSI: The Experience an average rating of three owl eyes, and Yelpers give it an average of 2.5 stars.
- If you ever had the itch to become a crime scene investigator but never got a chance to test out your skills, this is your perfect opportunity. – Jeannie Borbe, Vegas.com
- The murderer was pretty easy to figure out and we felt like geeks for overanalyzing every little thing. Regardless, it was fun to experience this…an hour of entertainment sure beats losing the money in 5 minutes on the slot machine. :) – Anna L., Yelp
CSI: The Experience
At one lab station, an interim investigator carefully examines bullet casings. At another, single strands of hair deliver the DNA samples necessary to send a suspect to imaginary prison for a long, long time. Around every shadowy corner of CSI: The Experience, the latest recruits in forensic science slide into the latex gloves or behind the majestic mustaches of popular TV characters to solve crimes through interactive detective work.
A total of 15 lab stations harbor the evidence of three murders, each of which throws multiple suspects into the mix to trip up investigations. Videos featuring cast members and real-life scientists provide guidance throughout analyses, and afterward, newly established sleuths receive certification by prying an official CSI: The Experience diploma from the cold, lifeless hands of their email inbox.
