Great experience, we loved family day on the farm.
  • Convenient downtown location
  • Design inspired by artist Vernon Grant
  • Fun, interactive exhibits

Children learn best from exhibits involving lights and colors, which means you can either take them to a children's museum or let them rub their eyes too hard. Teach wee ones safely with today's Groupon: for $10, you get four tickets to the Main Street Children's Museum in downtown Rock Hill (a $20 value).

Housed in the historic People's Bank building, the newly opened Main Street Children's Museum—part of the Culture & Heritage Museums—immerses children up to age 6 in a play-focused, interactive wonderland inspired by the whimsical artwork of Vernon Grant. Best known for designing Kellogg's mascots Snap! Crackle! and Pop!, Grant's vision infuses the space with a fun-house atmosphere, featuring giant boats, tiny houses, and an exactly-to-scale museum ticket kiosk. The space inspires creative, developmental play with model trains, costumes, and puppets, and the large size of many of the structures encourages parents to regress back into their youth and frolic along with their kids. Though the museum is intended for children up to the age of 6, there is no official age limit, and older siblings are invited to come and play along or sit moodily in the corner reading age-appropriate existentialist tracts.

About Main Street Children's Museum

Culture & Heritage Museums safeguard the Carolina Piedmont's historical treasures and educate residents and visitors about the region's unique past. Instituted in the 1950's, York County's group of affiliated museums and attractions forms a multi-campus network encompassing a wealth of educational opportunities across various disciplines.

Each year, museumgoers view antique documents and photographs at the Historical Center located inside the McCelvey Center. They can get to know more than 1,500 natural specimens at the hands-on Naturalist Center inside the Museum of York County, and march through Historic Brattonsville's 775-acre Revolutionary War site. Locals can volunteer at the museums in fascinating roles, such as specimen preparers, who beautify avian exhibits by helping with taxidermy and surgical beak-lifts.
