Led by Second City–trained instructor Stacey Hallal, Curious Comedy Theater’s retinue of comedian coaches help students hone their stage skills through three-hour intensive comedy courses. During the improv class, professional comedians lead groups of 5–20 students in short-form games and exercises to learn the fundamentals of improv. Burgeoning comedians will build their confidence on stage and learn to react quickly in front of crowds, dishing out timely one-liners and large wooden crooks.
Comedian Gabe Dinger helms the standup course, imparting preshow writing techniques and methods of setting up jokes for maximum chuckleability. The solo joke-slinging course also covers stage etiquette, instructing students in appearing natural on stage while handling a mike and when ribbon dancing to “Wind Beneath My Wings”.
