What You'll Get
When compared to mixed-gender populations, the members of all-female lizard species are stronger, happier, and 10 times more likely to be named Trisha. Today's Groupon brings together likeminded ladies to increase fitness, morale, and results: for $24, you get a one-month unlimited basic membership (a $49 value) and unlimited Curves Circuit with Zumba classes (up to a $16 value) at Curves (up to a $65 total value). This offer can be redeemed at either of Curves’s two Eugene locations: 28th Avenue or 11th Avenue. After an initial training period during the first week, participants are welcome to attend either location at their convenience. Zumba classes (a $2 value per class), however, are held Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. at the 11th Avenue location, and every other Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at the 28th Avenue location.
Members at Curves, a fitness center designed exclusively for women, rotate around a circuit of hydraulic-resistance machines that have been designed to work with female bodies and promote weight loss, protect against osteoporosis, and deal with arthritis. An experienced trainer is always nearby to help manage participants’ machine maneuvering and muscle making. Instead of fiddling with weight stacks and losing momentum, the hydraulic machines use gym-goers' own body weights, fitness levels, and aerodynamic water bottles to create resistance that matches abilities, decreasing the risk of soreness or injury. Because traditional lift-and-lower motions create bulky muscles, each machine uses push-and-pull motions to create toned, lean muscles perfect for crushing a grapefruit without looking like you can.
For 30 minutes, limbering ladies move around a circuit that positions machines inward so they'll have a chance to share laughs and secret handshakes with fellow fitness frontierswomen. Because each workout warrior is at a different station, the only competition that exists is with one's own burgeoning muscles. A soundtrack of fun, upbeat music includes cues that tell participants it's time to move on to the next station. The complete aerobic and strength-training workout raises heart rates and burns calories while allowing women to meet new friends, arrange a girls' night out between labored breaths, or plan a wardrobe of revealing bikinis for their newly svelte doppelgänger action figures.
Newly added to the Curves curriculum, Curves Circuit with Zumba fuses Curves’s quick and effective workout structure with a pulse-pounding dance class set to hip-shaking Latin beats. Each class lasts 30 minutes, and participants can sweat away up to 500 calories per session, making the footloose fitness class a much sounder way to shed pounds than aquatic pogo.

As they enter the training circle at Curves, female guests come face-to-face with the smiles of other women. And just as points on a circle share a common distance from the circle's center, workout participants share the experiences of those nearby, trading stations throughout the 30-minute training session. One minute is spent on a piece of strength-training equipment built for feminine frames and designed to work two opposing muscle groups with a single movement. Exercisers then move on to a recovery station, where they run, jog, or dance to maintain heart rates and keep platforms in place during momentary losses of gravity.
