Slip a pair of rose-tinted glasses on your brain and whisk worries to a time-out corner with today’s grapey Groupon. For $29, you’ll get a tasting for two people ($30 value) and bottle of 2007 Carneros Pinot Noir ($32 value) from Cuvaison Estate Wines, whose modern, green-certified South Napa tasting room was praised by the San Francisco Chronicle for its “stunning, panoramic views”.
Don’t be deceived by the estate’s sprawling 400 acres – Cuvaison prides itself on personal pours and slower-paced service. You’ll steal away to your choice of the vineyard’s two tasting rooms, the new Carneros room in South Napa Valley or the original Calistoga room in North Napa Valley. Carneros is a solar-powered tasting room in a modern reclaimed-redwood building. Perch on recycled aluminum seating and soak up sunshine and fresh breezes from expansive retractable windows while sipping sustainable selections. The historic Calistoga room has shaded picnic grounds and an inviting tasting bar. Afterward, you’ll take home a bottle of 2007 Carneros Pinot Noir, an indulgent quaff teeming with toasty tannins. If your wine lust waned, the pinot noir makes an ideal holiday gift for an oenophile uncle.
Drinking wine can help you reduce the risk of heart disease, some cancers, and the progression of certain disorders, such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease. It’s also a slower swallow than other libations, so a single glass could provide hours of glee. Get this Groupon for an eco-friendly outing, romantic day trip, or palate pleasure.
The San Francisco Chronicle reviewed Cuvaison's new Carneros Tasting Room:
- If you're short on time, think about coming back on a more leisurely day. All tastings are seated, so you sit either indoors or outdoors and the wines are brought one at a time. It makes the process longer, but nets you individual attention. Our host gave a brief history of each wine and pointed out where the grapes were grown - in one case, the Pinot vines were a few feet away... Throughout the visit, we never felt rushed or pressured, and on our way out, we snagged a bonus taste of their 2006 Espiritu dessert wine. – Janny Hu, San Francisco Chronicle
- This was my favourite [sic] winery that I visited while in the Napa Valley area. They were friendly & open, very knowledgeable and really enthusiastic (though not overly so). – sssnr, Tripadvisor
