What You'll Get

• For $30, you get four weeks of improv classes (a $50 value) and a year-long registration fee (a $15 value; a $65 total value). This Groupon is valid for Improv I (ages 10–15, Mondays at 4 p.m.) or Improv II (ages 16+, Mondays at 5 p.m.).
Led by founders Michael and Jennifer Dalto, D'Alto Studio of Performing Arts' band of astute teachers tickles the motivations of budding actors in a 9,000-square-foot studio. Elementary schoolchildren cultivate memorization and acting skills during Stage One: Let's Put On A Show classes by playing theater games, analyzing scripts, and giving performances. Main Stage Production Class students learn to feel relaxed on stage by practicing improvisation and performing monologues while wearing suits made of massage pillows. Prepare for auditions, hone dramatic techniques, and concoct monologues and scenes for acting nights held every other month in Acting 101 classes. During improv classes, students participate in games that teach them to react to scenarios spontaneously, thereby gaining confidence and watching their inhibitions crumble like cookies made of dried leaves. Theatrical productions take place in a 115-seat black box theater, and all classes are 60 minutes long.
