Experienced instructors set students on the road to open-water scuba certification during part one of D. D. Dive’s PADI Open Water Diver class. Over the course of two weeks, students learn to operate diving equipment, perform basic techniques, and sweet talk a grumpy starfish into letting go of a facemask during two classroom sessions and two pool dives. The course includes all materials and equipment except masks, fins, snorkels, and rustproof wallets, which can be brought from home or purchased in the dive shop. After completing part one of the course, students are prepared to complete the four open-water dives necessary for PADI certification in part two of the series (an additional $100). Groupon customers also receive 10% off any in-store equipment purchases.
D. D. Dive
A PADI five-star dive center, D. D. Dive outfits novice swimmers with all the fundamental skills and knowledge necessary to swim beneath the waves. Their courses are made up of classroom sessions, pool work, and open-water excursions to prepare each student according to PADI guidelines. The instructors also offer classes in rescue diving and diving-instructor as well as dive-master training, all of which are useful skills when working to open a dive school for dolphins. Once certified, new divers can go with the school on a globetrotting trip to a diving mecca such as Bonne Terre Mine, Kona, or the Galapagos Islands.
