Dachshund's Bar & Grill
Chefs at Dachshund's Bar & Grill actually cook for not one, but two core demographics: hungry people and those people's dogs. On any regular day, you might see canines big and small on the outdoor patio enjoying the restaurant's housemade dog treats. Inside, sunlight bounces off brick, wood, and corrugated metal walls, illuminating a menu for people that includes sandwiches and bratwursts as well as small meals for kids and their imaginary dogs.
Along with black and blue burgers, chorizo-stuffed jalapenos wrapped in bacon, and shrimp po' boys, the menu lists a huge number of creative breed-themed franks. Among the stand-outs are the Sheep Dog (Guinness dijon-heaped kielbasa with sauerkraut), the Chow Chow (house-made chili and cheddar on a Black Angus dog), and the Shih-tzu (Black Angus dog with pulled pork, fried wontons, ginger, and spicy chili sauce). The Tampa Bay Times even called it "a bright, upbeat establishment that caters equally well to families, sports fans, and the happy-hour crowd," and gave their hot dogs high marks.
