Located on the lobby level of the green boutique Orchard Hotel, Daffodil is a unique organic restaurant offering a chic downtown experience that won't break your budget or your legs. True to its "Organic, Delicious, Artful" motto, Daffodil's talented chefs use organic local ingredients in classic dishes. The menu includes soul-comforting food, like soul-consoling meatloaf with soul-caressing glazed carrots and soul-massaging mashed potatoes, soul-petting red-wine-braised ribs, and soul-stroking chicken potpie. Don't forget the delectable desserts: Daffodil offers your favorite foods with a sweet twist, like PB&J with milk (which Daffodil-style means shortbread cookies served with strawberry jam, peanut butter, and bourbon milk). The options change by the season but you'll always find dishes with the freshest local fruits, vegetables, and meats available in San Francisco. And don't worry about emptying your wallet: the reasonable entree prices range from $7–$22.
The ambience is always relaxed at Daffodil—never rushed or chaotic like a typical hotel restaurant or racetrack. Daffodils appropriately accent the tables, and floor-to-ceiling windows brighten the dining room and illuminate paintings by local San Francisco artists. A highlighted floral display separates the dining area from the bar, which is a great spot for socializing over fine wine, cocktails, or tea. From 4 p.m.–7 p.m., the bar offers a happy hour appetizer, free with a glass of wine or a cocktail. And you don't have to sit at the bar to take advantage of the beverages because your server will be more than happy to suggest the perfect wine pairing from the long list of international wines.
