Dance is the one activity that can fulfill a child's desire to have fun and express themselves without the need for a magic-marker face tattoo. Satisfy a small one's wish with today's Groupon: for $69, you get one week of kids' summer dance camp at Dance 411 Studios (a $150 value). Parents must register for one of eight sessions before May 22.
Dance 411 Studios' expert instructors teach tiny tots (ages 4–7) and twinkle-toed preteens (ages 8–13) the art of expressive movement during the one-week summer-camp sessions. Children will learn ballet, hip-hop, and jazz, and can get a head start in playground dance-offs in specialty classes such as break dancing. Extra games, dance-centric movies, and arts and crafts round out each day's kidsperience, and studio spaces are clean and free of toe-nipping Roombas. Each day begins at 9 a.m. and finishes at 4 p.m., although children can be dropped off as early as 8:30 a.m. At the end of the week, children will put on an informal performance for families to show off their fleet feet, flash newfound knowledge, and artfully interpret their dissatisfaction with this week's allowance.
Dance 411 Studios
Dance 411 Studios' instructors pause from stints as featured dancers in music videos, choreographers for award shows, and appearing on “So You Think You Can Dance” to helm the studio’s dance classes. The studio hosts a full range of traditional youth dance courses, with styles ranging from ballet and tap to hip-hop and breakdance. Instructors also offer these and other styles to adults with the Dimensions program, which teaches dance and fitness fundamentals through classes including Zumba, Adult Hip-Hop, Jazz, and Contemporary. The studio plays host to the Ladies Liberation program, with classes targeted toward adult female students, helping women get in shape and build confidence while accessing their sensual sides. Kids as young as 18 months can also develop social, mental, and motor skills during My First Steps child development sessions.
