The test of a great dance company is not the genius of its founder ... but the endurance and invention of his proteges. As genius founders go José Limón (1908-1972) was as brilliant and influential as they come. More remarkably, in the decades after his death, the Limón Dance Company has expanded and deepened his legacy of dramatic expression, technical mastery and deep humanism. Now, in their 70th year of touring, LDC performs three masterpieces by Limón. "Mazurkas," set to Chopin, is dedicated to the relentless spirit of the Polish people. Based Shakespeare's Othello, "The Moor's Pavane" captures the drama and passion of a timeless tale of love, jealousy and betrayal while "The Winged" is a fanciful look at our feathered friends ... real, imagined and mythical. Dance Affiliates presents this thrilling performance at NextMove Dance at the Prince.
