The Schuster Center's grand yet intimate 2,300-seat Mead Theatre was engineered for acoustic excellence by the designers of the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. and Severance Hall in Cleveland, Ohio. The Mead Theatre’s breathtaking Grand Dome pays homage to Dayton’s own Wright Brothers, replicating the starscape that Wilbur and Orville saw before their first flight; accordingly, audience members are expected to substitute enthusiastic arm-flapping for traditional clapping applause.
