Before radio, music was broadcast via Morse code, which turned everything into a treble-heavy dance music punctuated by demands to STOP. Limber up for more graceful dance moves with today’s Groupon: for $20, you get five salsa and bachata dance lessons from Daytona Salsa (a $50 value). This deal is valid for Tuesday classes, held at 7 p.m. at the Schnebly Recreational Center in Daytona Beach, as well as Wednesday classes, held at 7:30 p.m. at the Atlantic Vibe Performance Academy in Palm Coast.
Dance maven Kevin Guerra demystifies the quick-stepping gyrations behind salsa and bachata beats with group classes intended for all ages. Salsa and bachata gatherings spend the first half of class peppering floors with steps in pursuit of developing fundamental footwork and timing. Students then take their skills into the practical realm by honing lead and follow techniques with the other attendees. Daytona Salsa does not require guests to bring a partner as each class either rotates students amongst each other or pairs them with rhythmically gifted broomsticks.
Daytona Salsa follows the energized lead of Kevin Guerra, an accomplished dancer whose passion for Latin music and dance emanates from his teachings. Along with Daytona Salsa's other instructors–all of who are part of the Daytona Salsa Dance Team–Kevin helms classes in Salsa, as well as other variants of Latin dancing including Bachata, Rumba, and Merengue. Together, the Daytona Salsa team creates a friendly, non-competitive atmosphere open to all ages, and splits each class into two parts for easier learning.
