Horses symbolize a wild, uncontrollable spirit, which is why rebellious teenagers sport mane-like mohawks and eat even the cores of their apples. Take the reins with this Groupon.

Choose From Three Options

  • $69 for a 60-minute trail ride for two people (a $140 value), including a short intro to the horses and some post-ride refreshments.
  • $85 for a three-hour ranch outing for one person with a two-hour trail ride and arena lesson, hors d'oeuvres, and wine tasting (a $189 value). The arena lessons will cover basic riding skills as well as grooming, saddling, and playing games on horseback. Ranch outings last from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., but guests are welcome to stay and socialize until 9 p.m.
  • $175 for a birthday party for up to 10 children (a $350 value). Parties include an hour of riding activities followed by an hour of arts and crafts, during which kids create horseshoe picture frames for commemorative party photos.

Lost Creek Ranch

As a girl, Lynette Weldon dreamed of horses and cleaned stalls in exchange for the opportunity to ride. But she was only allowed to take out horses known to be stubborn and difficult-the ones no one else wanted to ride. Over time, the experience toughened her riding abilities, allowing her to grow into a trainer with a knack for bonding with troubled ponies.

At Lost Creek Ranch, Lynette guides students and horses along trails and streams during riding lessons. Eagles often glide overhead in search of fretted field mice, and tufts of woodsmoke climb from the campsites of ranch visitors. She also guides many of her riding students to competitive shows where horses are encouraged to settle their differences through equitation rather than bare-hoof boxing or telling yo' mare jokes.

Customer Reviews

We had a fantastic time. It was just a friend and me and our wonderful guide, Roxy. The staff was very kind and respectful. I somehow missed this but they are a horse rescue so it's nice to know the money is going for a good cause (besides being a great experience). The facilities are rustic (outhouse) but charming, the ride was enjoyable and our horses were great. We will definitely return and pay regular price.
