Championing traditional Middle Eastern dance, the instructors at DancEgypt impart the poetic movements of belly dance to ladies of all ages and fitness levels. In the beginner class, swivel savants create a highly social, supportive atmosphere as students learn belly-dance-specific stretches, proper posture, and basic dance walks, including the moonwalk. As the class progresses, torsos command basic hip circles and body shimmying while integrating shoulder, hand, neck, and head movements. By the end of the seven-week class, gyrators possess enough moves to improvise dances to any piece of Middle Eastern music or videogame soundtrack and may notice enhanced core strength, muscle tone, and flexibility.

DancEgypt recommends students wear clothes that are stretchy but not bulky so they can observe their own movements. Bare feet are preferred, though dance sandals or flat shoes may be worn. Dancers inspired to further their education can progress up to DancEgypt's higher-level courses, where instructors help dancers develop their own personal style and a second set of hips.


From within the cultural district of Broadway, students take part in the traditional Egyptian art form known as belly dancing. The steps—encompassing everything from rib-cage shimmies to hips swirling through infinity loops—may build with each beginner-level class, but the choreography remains purposefully open and fun.
