Glass can be exquisite in its myriad forms, from the ornate windows of a Gothic cathedral to the crystalline webbing of a freshly vandalized windshield. Reflect on beauty with today's Groupon: for $35, you get a glass-blowing ornament class at West Michigan Glass Art Center (a $70 value). Classes are available on select dates through April 20, 2012.
At West Michigan Glass Art Center, instructors teach artisans the ancient art of glass blowing to create festive glass ornaments. Classes accommodate nine students or fewer, ensuring ample individualized attention and little likelihood of hosting two people named Octavius. During each 20-minute session, pupils choose their preferred color of molten glass and load it into the blowpipe, shaping it into a seasonal decoration to take home or share with others. West Michigan Glass Art Center advises acolytes to arrive 15 minutes early and wear cotton clothing and closed-toed shoes, which keep clients safe and prevent toes from wiggling of their own volition.
