Q:

I have some old reels from family vacations 30 years ago, but we don't have the projector anymore, so I don't know which ones go together. Can you help sort through them so all of Disney World is together, and not interrupted by Shamu?

Danielle C.  asked on  Nov 26, 2012

A:

Hi Danielle, thank you for your question! At this time, we do not provide a service to view/edit your footage prior to having a DVD created. However, I would like to take this time to let you know that every film order includes access to our free and secure online service, MemoryShare. With MemoryShare you can view, share, and edit your videos online. Using our editing features, you can rearrange the footage and create a customized DVD project in the sequence you would like and order a copy of your customized DVD!

Q:

Can you convert cassette tapes to a cd? Or something online? Thank you.

Leslie T.  asked on  Nov 26, 2012

A:

Hi Leslie, thank you so much for your interest in our service. Unfortunately, we are not able to transfer cassette tapes to CD. However, we have many accepted formats you may be interested in, including various types of video tapes, film reels, images (slides, negatives, prints), and digital media (USB sticks, memory cards). You can submit any of those to have transferred on to a DVD! To read more about our Groupon offer, you can also visit our website here!

Q:

I saw that your charge for reel conversion is $.18 per foot. Does the Groupon count towards that if you have several reels? Also, could you transfer the reels to a 1tb hard drive instead of a dvd?

Dora S.  asked on  Nov 26, 2012

A:

Thanks for the question, Dora! Yes! This great deal is for you to spend the $60 any way you wish for our supported media types, which includes film. The value of the Groupon is $60, that means it will cover up to 333 feet of film! Our pricing is per foot and not per reel, which means you can submit several reels. In regards to the hard drive, we cannot deliver just the raw footage on DVD for you to edit using video software; our YesDVDs are authored to play on a DVD player and to be enjoyed like a Hollywood movie. I Hope this helps!

Q:

Once you transfer my content to DVD/internet, can I access individual files in order to create my own movies?

Rae C.  asked on  Nov 25, 2012

A:

Hi Rae. Yes! the files on the DVD are not restricted, so you can definitely access your video files to create your own movies using the files on your DVD! If you use our online service, you would not have access to the video files or be able to download your edited content; you can, however, order a DVD copy of your edited footage for $8.99 plus shipping and handling!

Q:

Hello, are there shipping costs? Would the Groupon cover two VHS tapes and shipping? Thanks!

Allison S.  asked on  Nov 25, 2012

A:

HI Allison, there are shipping costs and when appropriate, tax. You can use your $60 value to also include shipping and tax but these examples show you the price just if you were to use the groupon for the transfer -- and at the bottom of the details we do say these examples don't include shipping/tax. So, it is entirely up to you as to how to spend your $60 on our site depending on how much you want to get transferred. When you go through the checkout process you'll use our calculator to see your full price prior to paying for it with your groupon. Q:

When you transfer my data to a DVD or internet, will I then be able to use that content to create my own movies, or are the DVDs read only. What kind of files do you create?

Rae C.  asked on  Nov 24, 2012

A:

Hi Rae, excellent question! YesVideo encodes the files to an MPEG-2 format, which are later finalized to .VOB formats for playing on a DVD player. The files on the YesDVD are not restricted. As long as you have your own editing software for Windows or Mac, you will be able to edit your YesDVD. In addition, YesVideo grants every customer access to our MemoryShare service. MemorySafe allows you to view, share, and edit your movies online! To learn more about our Groupon offer and read more of our frequently asked questions, you can also visit our website here.

Hello Debbie, Thanks for your question. We don't actually transfer copyrighted materials like movies, tv shows, or newscasts unless you have written permission from the original copyright owner. This is really for family home movies. Thanks for the question!
