This groupon works on all the value bags and jumbo packs for fall planting that can be purchased now. It also is valid for spring planted value bags and jumbo packs (Gladiolus/Cannas/Dahlias) that will be available for purchasing starting in January.

Q:

What are the best bulbs to buy for the climate in San Diego, CA?

Susan C.  asked on  Sep 27, 2012

A:

You are located in zone 8-10 we suggest planting bulbs for spring planting as they do best in your climate. Since this groupon doesn't expire until March of 2013 these items can be purchased in January when we start our pre-sale for spring planting bulbs.

Q:

Q:

Regarding the Bulbs - are the "bulk bags" mixed with daffodils, hyacinths etc all in one bag or are the different flowers in separate bags? Please clarify what will come in the order. Thanks so much!

Justine  asked on  Sep 27, 2012

A:

The Limited Edition Collections are a variety of items, however they are all packaged separately and labeled separately. In regard to the Value bags and the Jumbo Packs that are part of this special they are all individually packaged and labeled as well.

Q:

Is the soil/weather in Reno, NV acceptable to grow these flowers?

colleen b.  asked on  Sep 27, 2012

A:

You are located in zone 7A so most of the bulbs for fall planting will grow well in Reno, NV. In regard to the soil type, the most important thing when planting bulbs is that the soil is well draining, and water does not collect in that area.

Q:

How long can you keep them before planting and when is the best time to plant in Atlanta, Georgia?

Drew B.  asked on  Sep 27, 2012

A:

You can store them for a couple of months, as long as you keep them in a cool, dry and dark location. The best time to plant is when your temperatures are consistently in the 60's during the day. If you store them until December and plant them then, that would be an ideal time to plant.

Q:

Will these bulbs bloom in Zone 9, South Louisiana near New Orleans?

Kathy B F.  asked on  Sep 27, 2012

A:

Hi Kathy, Thanks for your question! Most of the fall planted bulbs (all of the items currently for sale on our website) require a "chilling period" of 8-14 weeks with temperatures consistently below 55 degrees in order for them to grow and bloom correctly. If you do not receive this weather naturally outdoors but still want to grow the fall planted (spring blooming) bulbs in your area, they will need to be artificially chilled by placing them in a refrigerator for the recommended amount of time. If this does not interest you, then we would recommend waiting to use your Groupon until spring when we have our spring planted ( summer blooming) bulbs available which do GREAT in the Southern Louisiana area!

Q:

Hello, my question is about planting time, soil and sun or shade. I live in the Chicago area, what is the best time to plant? I would like to naturalize an area in my backyard with tulips, however since this are has never been planted will this be a good location for tulips? This area is also shaded by fur and maple trees. The only direct sun is before noon. Thanks for your help. Leslie:)

Leslie N.  asked on  Sep 27, 2012

A:

The best time to plant fall bulbs is when your temperatures are consistently in the 60's during the day or lower. Tulips will tolerate partial shade, so planting them under maple trees will be fine. As long as they receive a half days sun and the soil drains well you should have no problem planting tulips in that area.

Q:

Merchant website shows a Groupon Page that includes 3 Limited Edition packages along with jumbo & value ... is everything on this page good for the Groupon? The page seems to indicate that. Are other value & jumbo packages not shown on that website Goupon page eligible?

C.K. F.  asked on  Sep 27, 2012

A:

Hi there! Thanks for the question. Yes, everything on that page which begins with those 3 Limited Edition packages qualify for purchase with the Groupon. Basically any item on our website with the term "value bag" or "jumbo pack" in the title is fair game! Hope this helps :)
