Q:

Hi there! Anything I can get for planting in my yard in 32826? Thanks!

Stefania B.  asked on  Sep 27, 2012

A:

You are located in hardiness zone 9b, which it is too warm for many of the bulbs you would plant in fall. However the groupon is available through March 2013, and many of our spring planted bulbs that we start selling in January would actually do better in your climate, you could save the groupon and use it this winter.

Q:

How do these bulbs fare in Florida weather? And are they best planted in direct sunlight or partial? Thank you.

Debra K.  asked on  Sep 27, 2012

A:

Most of the fall planted items will need to be pre-chilled in Florida http://www.bulbblog.com/forcing-flower-bulbs/ here are tips on forcing flower bulbs. In Florida they would be best planted in partial sun, and we suggest planting tulips or daffodils. Also since this groupon is valid through March many of our spring planted items that are available in January would do better in your climate.

A:

Hi there, Debra! Thanks for your question! Each item on our website is listed for the "hardiness zones" they will do best in. If you are unsure of your hardiness zone, simply enter your zip code on this page http://www.hollandbulbfarms.com/zones.asp. Once you know your zone, you can check the listed zones for a particular item. Many of our fall planted bulbs require a "chilling period" which consists of 8-14 weeks with temperatures consistently below 55 degrees. If you do not receive this weather naturally outdoors, you will need to pre-chill your bulbs prior to planting by placing them in the refrigerator. If this does not sound fun to you, you can always wait to use your Groupon until spring when we will have all of our spring planted (summer blooming) items available for purchase which do wonderfully in Florida!

Q:

May the purchaser designate what bulbs they desire? For instance, no point in planting tulips in the Columbia, SC area as it does not get cold enough for them to over-winter. Thanks.

Jane E.  asked on  Sep 27, 2012

A:

Yes, you can choose the items you want from this selection and apply the $50 Groupon value to your order total.

Q:

Exactly how many bulbs of each Flower variety are in WHICH package. I don't understand the difference between Value Bags and Jumbo Packs, $30.00 can pay for a lot of bulbs and I want value for sight unseen plus shipping.

Barbara M.  asked on  Sep 27, 2012

A:

Hi Barbara. Please see here for all of the options. You can click on the selections for more information.

Q:

Approximately how many bulbs (total) do you get for this deal?

Jeanne D.  asked on  Sep 27, 2012

A:

Hi Jeanne. This Groupon is valid for $50 toward an order of Value Bags and Jumbo Packs here. So the number of bulbs would depend on what you order. You would just be responsible for any cost over the $50 value.
