Q:

If I buy 3 can I use them over the next 6 months?

James M.  asked on  Oct 7, 2012

A:

You are welcome to buy and use for any open courses we have available! They are valid through the end of next year (2013), so they won't expire before that time.

Q:

I have a NIkon J1. I have only used the auto settings and am not happy with this camera at all. I'm hoping if I learn how to use the manual functions that will change. I would assume that Digital 101 would be the class I would start with?

Lisa  asked on  Oct 6, 2012

A:

Lisa, we would actually recommend Point & Shoot for your camera and what you want to get out of the course!

Q:

Hi, I have a 'point and shoot' digital camera, and bought a groupon to take that basics course. I read through the other course descriptions and they mention about 'slr' cameras. I'd like to try the course on lighting, composition, etc. Is my camera too basic to try the other courses? If there are any other courses that my 'point and shoot' camera is able to partake in, what else would you recommend? Thank you.

SHALLAMAR A.  asked on  Oct 6, 2012

A:

The Point & Shoot and Creative Composition class would both be great choices for you ... I don't know that I would recommend Lighting 101, as you won't have the ability to add an external flash to your camera. However, Portrait Photography would be another great choice, as would Intro to Editing!

Q:

Someone asked about giving this as Christmas gift and your response was that this is good thru Dec 2013. Groupon says August 2013.

Elizabeth E.  asked on  Oct 5, 2012

A:

Great follow-up here! It really is valid through Dec. 31, 2013 ... Groupon is also aware of this change and you can see the verification on our site. Hope that helps!

Q:

Is there a specific photo editor that is needed for these classes?

James M.  asked on  Oct 5, 2012

A:

For our Intro to Editing course, we recommend you download the free 30 day trial of Photoshop, as we work with Photoshop 3 weeks of the course. (Note: please download when your course begins, so you can utilize it during your course!)

It seems like Digital 101 will be the right fit for you, as you learn to explore your camera's features.
