Q:

I would like to take this class. But I will be available only from December. I have a canon T2i camera and would like to explore it. Would I be able to take this course from December, if I pay for this now?

Srinivasan k.  asked on  Oct 5, 2012

A:

I'm not sure quite what you are asking ... your camera is a great fit for our Digital 101 course! You are welcome to purchase and register for any available month for that course. I hope that helps!

Q:

Are the classes prerecorded or are they a live webinar? In other words, can they be taken at any time of day/any day of the week? How long does each classs last? Can participants access the class sessions (for review) in the future? How long have you been doing this? Thanks!

Ronda D.  asked on  Oct 4, 2012

A:

The classes are all pre-recorded ... this is done for your convenience, so you can view them when it works for you! Yes, you have access to the class through the end of the calendar year you take the class in (either 2012 or 2013) - we encourage you to review the content as often as possible - we want you to master these ideas! We've been teaching for 5+ years now!

Q:

Have you ever had kids take a course? My 11 year-old is interested in photography and has lots of fun experimenting with the DSLR we bought this year. We've looked in our area but haven't been able to find a class designed for kids. Also I think she'd have more fun with a composition course than the 101, but does the composition class assume you know everything in 101?

Lauren C.  asked on  Oct 4, 2012

A:

Lauren, First, we have had a lot of kids take the courses! They are sometimes more internet savvy than other students. =) Also - I'd absolutely recommend Creative Composition - it's by far the most "fun" course! You don't need to have any prior settings knowledge to take it.

Q:

I have both a Canon EOS 50D, and a Canon EOS Rebel T4i and use them both regularly. However, I am one of those that shoots mostly in manual mode, but really want to expand my repertoire to take advantage of what these cameras have to offer. Will this class be able to help me specifically with these cameras or are the classes more about just digital cameras in general? would the Digital 101 class be the one for me? Thanks, Jan

Jan G.  asked on  Oct 4, 2012

A:

Jan, It seems you are definitely ready to move beyond 101 if you are already shooting manually .. so we'd recommend 102 for you!

Q:

I have a Sony Cyber-shot, DSC-HX200V, I do fairly well with the automatic aspects, but have no idea what to do with the manual and custom features. Will the instructors taylor the class to my camera or is it more generic?

Kathy H.  asked on  Oct 5, 2012

A:

Kathy, The concepts we'll talk about in class are geared toward the custom settings that every camera offers ... like White Balance, ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed. I hope that helps!

Q:

What programs or updates of programs are needed on my computer in order to access the material in the courses? Thank you.

Blythe k.  asked on  Oct 5, 2012

A:

As long as you can access the internet, you're all set! We do recommend viewing the classes in Firefox - it's the optimal browser for our learning delivery system.

Q:

I purchased three the last time they were offered and classes weren't available for 101 until January so I signed up for that. Now I see that you have 101 is available in November, I would like to take it then if that is possible
