Like advertising, baseball relies on great pitches, a loyal fan base, and the power of grown men in animal costumes to sway public opinion. Endorse America's pastime with this GrouponLive deal to see a Fort Myers Miracle baseball game at Hammond Stadium. For $8, you get two tickets for box seating to any regular-season home game, except on designated fireworks nights (a $17 value). Click here to view a schedule of games.
Celebrating their 20th anniversary as a Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, the Miracle thrive during home games at Hammond Stadium with their sights set on a Florida State League title. A former Twins farmhand and older brother of Twins catcher Joe Mauer, skipper Jake Mauer helms the home dugout, which has seen talents such as David Ortiz, Francisco Liriano, and Matt Garza pass over its steps and create secret handshakes with the Gatorade cooler. Under manager Mauer's guidance, outfielder Oswaldo Arcia leads this year's batch of future stars. The 21-year-old slugger—ranked as the Twins' third-best prospect by MLB.com—leads the team with a .318 batting average, seven home runs, and 30 RBIs through 52 games, and he was crowned with the league's Player of the Week honors at the start of June.
Outfitted with a Churchill Downs-like outer façade, Hammond Stadium hosts a full lineup of promotions to further energize home crowds, including half-price beers on Thursdays and Buck Night Mondays, when single dollars can be used to purchase select items or folded into shawls for shivering foul balls.
Fort Myers Miracle
Like the Fort Myers Palms and the Miami Hustlers, Marlins, and Orioles before them, the Fort Myers Miracle continue a tradition of minor league baseball in South Florida that dates back to 1926. Under the stewardship of partial owners Jimmy Buffet and Bill Murray, the Miracle is now a Class A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins that faces off against rival Florida State League teams in front of crowds of up to 8,500 in Hammond Stadium. In 2014, the Miracle collected 87 wins and claimed their first FSL title since moving to the Sunshine State in 1992. Even before that, though, the team experienced much success, producing players who have gone on to play in the FSL all-star game, the major leagues, and community theater productions of The Sandlot.
