- $39 for four 30-minute private music lessons (a $100 value)
Designed for ages 6–18, these one-on-one lessons are available for guitar, bass, strings, winds, piano, drum, or voice.
Each ensemble class culminates in a final performance, putting students through six group lessons, one dress rehearsal, and one concert. All music materials are included, and students can pick from a wide range of ensembles, from woodwind to jazz to beginning youth orchestra. For early-childhood music classes, kids aged 4–6 can attend a Muffins string class, where they learn violin technique through a story-based method book. For older children, 8–12, Guitar Starters teaches beginning plucking skills. Check the calendar for a full list of classes.
Creative Arts for Kids’ Enrichment
Aimed at the broadening of juvenile horizons, the music classes and ensemble programs at Creative Arts for Kids’ Enrichment (or CAKE) are designed largely for students aged 4–18. No matter their configuration—orchestral, winds, or jazz—youth ensembles show off kids’ developing skills at annual concerts and off-the-grid musical-chairs parties. Teachers often host sessions for adults as well, providing grown ups occasion to raise their skills during all-level grown-up orchestras, belly-dancing classes, and the occasional round of yoga.
Intermezzo Academy of Music
Aimed at the broadening of juvenile horizons, the music classes and ensemble programs at Intermezzo Academy of Music are designed for students as young as 2 years old through adulthood. No matter their emphasis—classics to symphonic rock—ensemble classes give aspiring musicians a chance to build their skills with a peer group that they're comfortable with. Their children's classes emphasize play and discovery, rather than rigid repetition of scales, to instill kids with a love of music and get rid of the debilitating fear that the rhythm is going to get them. Teachers often host sessions for adults as well, providing grownups occasion to raise their skills during all-level grown-up orchestras.
