Tours begin at one of the 25 lakes in Meadow Lake Provincial Park’s boreal forest. Guests don 1880s costumes and sit back in an eight-passenger canoe as a guide shares stories about the fur traders who travelled the same trails in the 19th century. The half-day tour also includes a lunch of local, wild fare and a meeting with a group of fur traders in full costume.

Clearwater Canoeing

Vinessa Currie-Foster and Stacey Gross draw upon their experience in wilderness guiding to dispatch a diverse array of paddlers into the wilderness of northern Saskatchewan. Whether leaping off the legendary Swimming Stone, erecting a tent on a forested riverbank, or sailing across Churchill River on a beaver's back, waterfarers on Clearwater Canoeing's tours are immersed in natural scenery. During camping trips, oar-brandishers rustically refuel with local food or fish they've caught themselves and cooked on a camp stove or open flame. Trips can take on a historical angle as well—costumed guides can even outfit voyagers in 1880s regalia to transport them into the 19th-century heyday of the fur trade or the famous canoe-race scene in Oliver Twist.
