Colorado National Speedway, a NASCAR-sanctioned track, rouses racing fans of all ages with four select supersonic events distributed throughout the upcoming 30-plus event season. During each tire-screeching skirmish, drivers from the Front Range area and beyond descend upon the egg-shaped hippodrome to compete for prize money, track records, and coveted points, which they use toward the championship or for oversize mustache combs at the venue’s prize counter. Track announcer Marc Moser soups up race day with turn-by-turn commentary, keeping attendees up to speed on each event’s featured divisions, including super stock clashes on April 28 and August 11 and pro-truck matches on June 2. On September 15, a fleet of Grand American Modifieds parades the vehicles’ bulky frames and sharpened angles during sessions of copious rubber burning. After the final checkered flag is waved and groundskeepers hose all the melted butter off the track, attendees can take advantage of post-race autograph sessions and free access to the pit area.
