Celebrating their 10th anniversary, the Kansas City T-Bones follow manager Tim Doherty as they attempt to smash their Central Division rivals and park the American Association title on their mantel. Kansas City baseball legend Frank White dons a #20 uniform all season long as the T-Bones first-base coach. Veteran offensive powerhouse Kala Ka’aihue looks to repeat last season’s 22-home-run output, dispiriting opposing pitchers and making outfield walls desperately question their very purpose. Right-hander and Kansas City native Kyle Dahman also blazes back to the mound after a 2011 season of smoking opponents with his mid-90 mph fast ball and team second-best save record. The T-Bones will take on Central Division rivals from Sioux City and Gary as well as the 2009 league champion Lincoln Saltdogs, hoping to get to the playoffs to prove their mettle and get out of the September weddings of loose acquaintances.
Promotions sweeten trips to the stadium, with such events as a kids-eat-free night (May 21), which offers a free hot dog, bag of chips, and lemonade for the first 2,000 kids through the gates, or a postgame autograph session with Frank White (June 24). Mascot Sizzle the Bull drops by for autographs (May 23 and June 24), and $1 beer night (June 21) keeps mouths moist after attempts to metal-scream “Take Me Out to the Ball Game”.
Children age 2 and younger do not need their own tickets if not occupying their own seats.
